Athleisure. The current buzzword in fashion right now. It’s obvious that this trend isn’t going anywhere, if anything it’s only just getting started.
The sportswear meets fashionable street style look is making a huge debut in the fashion realm as of late.
Even hoodies are officially in fashion, with the return of the 90’s trend hitting the runways, celebrities’ wardrobes and high streets hard. The super casual streetwear classic has gotten a high-fashion makeup, alongside the casual leggings, sneakers and bralet combo.
Supermodels like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are the leading ladies at the moment when it comes to active wear inspiration, never missing a beat in ways to get your ‘Gym Chic’ on.
Although you may think nailing this ‘I’ve just come out of the gym’ look in a stylish everyday-wear way may be a bit far fetch, but with a little bit of balance, and a quick read of our handy guide, you can’t go wrong…
Do: Experiment with your outfits! Why not try combining a Laurel baseball bomber jacket with a silk blouse, black miniskirt and a sleek pair of chloe perspex boots. A perfect daytime look that can be worn on a night out as well!
Don’t: Wear a jacket on top of your look that is too baggy or oversized, as it can ruin your look by looking messy. Make sure your sports jacket is the perfect fit, not only will it emphasise your body shape, but also will pull all your outfit together in a complementing way.
Do: Work the all-black-everything look: with a black lace-up ankle bootie, black crop t-shirt and tight fitting black tracksuit bottoms combo. Casual? Check. Stylish? Check!
Black is a slimming colour for all skin colours and body types, mixing it up with a sporty vibe creates a super flattering and edgy appeal. To make the look even more dynamic add a long waterfall coat, a crop leather jacket, or a small pop of colour for a gorgeous contrast.
Don’t: Overdo the look with too many bright colours, the style is already demanding attention.

Do: Always have a pair of comfy white sneakers that you can wear on the go and mix up with any look for a clean, slick and fashionable air. White sneakers go with pretty much anything, even a tight pencil skirt! So be sure to get your hands on a pair. Just be sure to switch them up with a different shoe if your athleisure look takes you beyond the gym and onto a track field!
Don’t: However, wear ripped up old trainers with this look if you’re after a fashionable ‘street style’ approach, as it’ll tarnish the polished sporty look.
Do: The joggers and elegant camel trench coat appearance, especially draped over the shoulders. The girly vs boyish juxtaposition works athleisure wonders effortlessly. Wearing some cute pumps wouldn’t go a miss either to complete the stylish look!
Don’t: Overdo the look with jewellery. Less is more here, we’d recommend wearing some simple rings or a delicate chain bracelet – your look is already complete with statement sporty pieces.
Do: Hoodies are a big yes! So mixing them up with a long skirt works, effortless yet chic, what more could you want? You can always try this look with a crop hoodie, change up the old school long and baggy hoodie with a contemporary cropped twist.
